September 2002: Turned Edge Possibilities
When you’re looking for
eye-catching information packaging, turned-edge manufacturing is flexible enough
to handle a wide range of products. Ring binders, book covers, slip cases, tote
boxes, point-of-purchase displays and multimedia packaging are just a few of the
possibilities Eckhart & Company can create.
The process: The
turned-edge production process is quite simple. Adhesive is applied to a cover
material, which is them wrapped around a board.
The material: One of the
big advantages of turned-edge manufacturing is that almost any material can be
used for construction. Offset-printed and film-laminated paper is a common
choice because it allows for vivid, four-color graphics. For total
personalization, paper covers can be digitally printed prior to lamination.
Another
popular covering material is book cloth, which offers a unique feel and a
traditional look. Additional materials can range from synthetic papers to
leather. These substrates can be custom decorated with our flexible, high-speed
screen printing presses, or they can be foil-stamped and embossed for a truly
unique look.
The possibilities: Typical
products include cases, box sets and ring binders. In many cases, these products
are designed to hold much more than paper. CD’s, tapes, pens and pencils,
perfect-bound books, swatches, samples and many other products can be packaged
in a turned-edge piece.
With a wide range of substrate
possibilities and decorating options, turned-edge products are only limited by
your imagination. At Eckhart & Company, we have the production capabilities,
product knowledge and design expertise to make even the most unconventional
turned-edge designs a reality.
